How can I book?
How can I confirm my booking?
We’ll do it all! As soon as you have received a written confirmation from us, you can practically pack your bags and look forward to an atypical vacation à la Glücksschmiede.
What kinds of payment are accepted?
With us you can pay with a debit card, a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and, of course, in cash (atypically cool: the hotel has its own ATM). In our restaurant, the motto is ‘only cash is true’ for payments under € 50. From € 50 onwards you can, of course, also pay with your card – as long as it’s not a Diners.
How can I change my booking?
Easy peasy! Just send us an email if you want to change your direct booking.
What are the cancellation conditions?
Cancellation conditions winter:
If you cancel up to 6 weeks before your arrival, we only deduct a small processing fee of € 50. In the period from 6 weeks to 2 weeks before the start of the trip, we have to charge you 30 % of the overnight price and if you cancel 2 weeks before arrival, there is an empty bed fee of 70 % for the booked stay. In case of no-show or early departure we have to charge the whole amount. In addition, the Austrian hotel contract conditions apply.
Cancellation conditions summer:
For bookings made by November 30th, 2022, we offer free cancellations up to 14 days before arrival. If you cancel up to 3 days before arrival, we will charge 70% of the total price as an empty bed fee and the full price starting from 3 days before arrival or in the event of an early departure. In addition, the Austrian hotel and contract conditions apply. Please note that we can only accept room cancellations in writing.
For both seasons:
Please note that we will only accept fixed reservations against a down payment of 30% of the total price as a deposit. You are welcome to transfer the deposit and contact our reservations team for further information.
If you have to cancel your holiday, we will convert your deposit into a voucher which does not expire and can be redeemed at any time that suits you. If you wish, we can also refund your deposit.
Prices & local tax:
All prices are in EURO including VAT; plus local tax including breakfast and all other inclusive services. We reserve the right to adjust prices in the event of errors and refer to the current price lists.
Do I need travel cancellation insurance?
Better safe than sorry! With a travel cancellation insurance you are definitely covered. You can sign up for one directly when booking your room.
How do I communicate my room cancellation?
Careful! Of course we understand that something can come up, but we always ask you to let us know in writing if you have to cancel your stay with us – otherwise we cannot accept your room cancellation.
How can I redeem my gift card?
You can redeem your gift cards and vouchers at the reception desk right upon arrival, thus treating yourself to an atypical holiday in our house. Have fun!
Can vouchers be redeemed for an unlimited time?
Your gift cards and vouchers should be redeemed within 3 years.
Are there special conditions for children and families?
Of course! We are a family hotel and have special family-friendly rooms, children’s prices, a play corner in the lobby and lots of activities up our sleeves that you can enjoy with your whole family. You can even enjoy many of them for free thanks to our Joker Card! What are you waiting for?
Getting here
How do I reach the hotel by car?
Our hotel is located in the middle of the traffic-free village zone in the east of Hinterglemm. Just drive straight into the town center (not through the tunnel) and turn right before the pedestrian zone. Once through the underpass at the “Reiterkogel” underground car park and you’re in the heart of Hinterglemm and right in front of our hotel door. Leave your car in front of the hotel to check-in. We will then be happy to help you with your luggage and park your car for you.
How do I reach the hotel by plane?
The nearest airports are in Salzburg, Innsbruck or Munich. We are happy to organize a transfer to the hotel for you.
Can I also be picked up by helicopter?
For an atypically luxurious start to your holiday, we can pick you up with our Wolf’s helicopter from Munich (MUC), Innsbruck (INN) or Salzburg (SZG) airports. You’ve definitely never arrived like this before.
Is there a shuttle service to the hotel?
Naturally. For a fee, you can be driven to our hotel with a shuttle.
Where can I park?
You are welcome to leave your car in front of the hotel. We will then park it for you and bring it to our garage, where it can be left for a fee of € 20 per day.
When is the reception open?
Our reception is open for you from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm daily. Whether you have a question, want to borrow an umbrella or book a table in one of our restaurants, we’re here to help.
When are the check-in and check-out times?
Servus, nice that you are here! You can check in with us from 3:00 pm and move into your atypically cozy room. On your departure day we would kindly ask you to check out by 11:00 am.
Is a later check-out possible?
Klar! Je nach Verfügbarkeit deines Zimmers kannst du es gegen eine kleine Gebühr von 50 € pro Person den ganzen Tag ruhig angehen lassen und dein Zimmer noch länger genießen. Auch die Türen unseres Alm Spa stehen dir damit noch länger offen.
Do I need snow chains in winter?
Let’s put it this way: Snow chains could always come in handy, but most of the time you can do without them. However, we would definitely recommend winter tires.
Is there a babysitter?
Would you like a little break from the kiddos or a relaxing afternoon as a couple? No problem, we will be happy to organize a loving babysitter for you. For two hours or more, our nannies will take care of your little ones for € 25 an hour until 8:00 pm. We would just remind you to book the babysitter well in advance.
Is there a way to charge my electric car?
E-asy! For a small fee you can charge your car in our garage.
Am I allowed to smoke in the hotel?
Smoke on the water, but please not in your room! Our hotel is a non-smoking hotel, so we ask you to refrain from smoking in our rooms and in the hotel area. But no worries, dear smokers, there are enough places for smokers in front of the hotel, for example in our heated gondola.
Can I book breakfast on the day of arrival?
Nobody goes hungry with us. Therefore, you can, of course, help yourself to our atypically varied breakfast buffet on the day of your arrival for a small fee. If you want to browse our breakfast menu in advance, it’s all here.

Is there a bike depot?
Our lockable bicycle cellar is available to you free of charge throughout your stay.
Are there e-bikes and bicycles for hire?
At our partner store, Intersport Breitfuss, directly opposite the hotel, you can rent the latest bikes as well as a selection of e-bikes and cycle through Salzburg’s largest bike region. What are you waiting for?
Is there a room to dry sportswear?
We don’t have an explicit drying room, but you can hang and dry your clothes in your room. For a surcharge, we also offer a laundry service including ironing.
Is there a ski depot?
What would a hotel in Hinterglemm be without a ski depot? Of course you will find a lockable ski cellar in our hotel, where each room has its own compartment.
Is there a ski rental shop close by?
But of course! You can rent skis from our partner shop, Intersport Breitfuss, directly opposite the hotel. Here, too, we recommend that you book in advance via email.
Do you have a partnership with a ski school?
We would be happy to arrange ski courses for you with our partner Heli’s ski school. When the time comes, the ski instructor will pick you up at the hotel for your private course and the skiing fun can begin.
How do I get to the nearest ski lift?
Very easily. The Westgipfelbahn is right behind our house – you can reach it on foot in just 3 minutes. You can also reach the Reiterkogelbahn in 3 minutes on foot. That way, nothing stands between you and your skiing or hiking pleasure.
How far in advance should I book spa treatments?
We recommend that you book your wellness treatment about a week before arrival. In this way, we can ensure that our Ayurveda masseur from Sri Lanka can take enough time for you and your needs. Click here for our wellness menu.
Is the baby pool heated?
Our baby pool is heated to cosy 30 degrees Celsius all year round. Perfect for babies, mums and dads.
When is the sauna open?
Our sauna opens daily at 3 pm. If you feel like taking a sauna earlier, we can fire it up for you whenever you wish. Feel free to contact the reception.
When do I get the Joker Card?
You get the Joker Card as soon as you arrive and can therefore enjoy all the benefits straight away. Have fun!
Can I borrow umbrellas from the hotel if the weather is bad?
We don’t leave anyone out in the rain! We only ask you to leave us a deposit for our super quality umbrellas with their signature Glücksschmiede design.
Are there extra beds/cribs?
We have extra beds for babies and children. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you’ll need a cot for your kids. We’ll prepare your room accordingly.
Is there guest service?
You will find us daily from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm at the reception desk.
Is there a children’s playroom?
We have a play corner in the lobby where the little ones can let off steam.
Is there a leisure or weekly program?
We organize our Hotel Glücksschmiede in-house ski day every Wednesday. We’d be happy to have you join us! Together we go up to our Wolf’s Hut, where we’ll provide delicious, regional food. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can go to our hunting grounds with host Heri to feed the wild animals.
Is there a minibar in the room?
If you’d like a refreshment in your own room, we can fill the minibar with ice-cold delicacies. Cheers!
Are there parking facilities at the hotel?
You can park in our underground car park from € 20 per day. Included in the price: We’ll be happy to move your car for you, so you don’t have to worry about anything.
How do I get a ski pass?
The ski pass is available directly from us at reception or at any of the ski lifts.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome. For a fee of € 25 per day, your little furry friend gets a place with a dog basket. But you have to bring your own food.
Culinary Services
When is breakfast served?
Wake up early for the best seat in the breakfast room from 7:30 am, or sleep a little longer and enjoy something delicious off our breakfast buffet until 11:00 am. Here is our breakfast menu, if you want to browse.
Can I book dinner?
Our two à la carte restaurants, Fuhrmannstube and HornOX, invite you to enjoy delicious Austrian food or Austro-Asian fusion dishes in an atypical way.
Is there a restaurant in the hotel?
There are two! Fuhrmannstube with its Austrian specialties and our brand new HornOX – Awesome Eatery, where you can enjoy wild wood to table cuisine.
How can I book a table at HornOX?
You can book a table either at reception or directly in the restaurant. Enjoy!
How can I book a table in the Fuhrmannstube?
You can book a table either at reception or directly in the restaurant. Enjoy!
Are there gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives?
No gluten, no problem! Of course, we are happy to prepare dishes for you that are free of the desired allergens. Please let us know in advance so we can have everything ready for your personal alternative menu.
Is there an afternoon snack?
Yes! In addition to a rich breakfast buffet, in winter, there is also a daily afternoon snack – you can enjoy it between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. The times can vary a bit, but it’s always tasty.
Is there a hotel bar?
Yes. And a huge selection of awesome drinks. You can toast there every day from 3 pm … and sometimes even enjoy specially designed drinks from Heri and our bartender.

What can I experience with the Joker Card?
The Joker Card is the best way to explore our beautiful surroundings. Not only do you get to use a wide variety of lifts for free, you also have access to some of the best adventure spots, museums and attractions. You can find a detailed list of all discounts on the Saalbach website. Let nothing get in the way of having a real good time.
What summer activities are offered in the area?
From an exciting mini-golf tournament, to a refreshing day at the Käpt’n Hook adventure pool, and numerous hiking and biking excursions, a Saalbach summer holiday offers you lots of cool opportunities. You can even enjoy many of them for free thanks to the Joker Card. Nice!
What can you do if the weather is bad in summer?
Instead of cursing the weather gods, we recommend a relaxing day in our spa or in the Kaprun thermal baths. So you are well rested for the next rays of sunshine and ready to explore the area once the rain stops.
What museums are nearby?
The Heimathaus and the Ski Museum are definitely worth seeing! With the Joker Card you can even experience them for free.
What is the best way to get around locally?
Our hotel is right in the center of Hinterglemm, so we recommend exploring the town on foot or by simply walking to the nearest gondola. There is also a ski bus that you can use for free with your ski pass.
What winter activities are offered in the area?
Counter question: Which winter activities are not available in Saalbach Hinterglemm? Depending on what you feel like, you can go (cross-country) skiing, take part in guided snowshoe hikes, explore the toboggan run, curling, enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride, go on an adventurous ski tour and, and, and. Which hikes are suitable for children?
For hiking with kids, we recommend the Kids Hiking Challenge. Switch on your kids’ explorer mode while on the adventure mountain Kodok and let them discover the exciting themed trails with bright eyes and a pinch of adventure. After an exciting day in nature, cool rewards wait for the little hikers. You can find out more about the challenge here.
Are there alpine huts that can be reached with a pram?
Yes, from our own experience we would recommend the Wieseralm, the Rosswaldhütte, the Westgipfelhütte and the Winkleralm.
What can I do with children in summer?
Summer offers a variety of exciting options for a family holiday in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Grab your kids and experience exciting hours in the high ropes course, in the Learn to Ride Park, on the Wildife Trail, during the Kids Hiking Challenge, on one of the many playgrounds on the mountain or in the Käpt’n Hook outdoor pool. What can I experience with children in winter?
Even in winter there is a lot to experience for and with your kids. The Kids Winter Challenge, the Fun Slopes, the Fairy Tale Forest and the Toboggan Run are personal favourites. But on the Saalbach website you will find much more that makes big and small hearts beat faster. Have fun!
