Hiking with kids in Saalbach Hinterglemm

Or: “Hey mom, can I join you on the mountain?”

My boys are real Pinzgau nature boys and as such have already made the Glemmtal Alps – the natural playground right on our doorstep – unsafe on one or two occasions. Nevertheless, not every hiking route that we would recommend to our adult guests is also suitable for the little rockets. So it’s all the nicer that we also have a varied children’s program, so that you can also come hiking in Saalbach Hinterglemm with children and really have fun. You can find our highlights – put through their paces by me and the boys, of course, and found to be really good – in our guide.

The little 1×1: Hiking with children in Saalbach Hinterglemm

  • Montelino’s adventure trail: Will your children manage to help the sad clown Montelino find his smile again? Then take the Kohlmaisbahn cable car up to the Kohlmais summit and from there search for Montelino’s friends at 15 play stations. In addition to an exciting day full of fun and adventure, the kids can take part in an exciting competition at the end and win great prizes. By the way: the adventure trail is accessible with a baby carriage and many mountain huts along the way have special offers for children.
  • Kodok’s new adventures on the Reiterkogel: Since June 2023, there has been a new attraction for young and old adventurers on the Reiterkogel. On 11 exciting puzzle stations, the aim is to help the lovable goblin Kodok find his magic utensils again, which were stolen from him by a sneaky troll. The adventure trail is 3.3 kilometers long, but is only accessible with a baby carriage as far as the Rosswaldhütte. However, a visit to the fantasy world is free and the adventure pass is included in the valid cable car ticket. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Wildlife Trail: There is a new highlight at the end of the valley: the Wildlife Trail shows young visitors in a playful way which animals are at home in the Glemmtal, what they look like and where they live. The aim here is to solve the tricky puzzle in the Wildlife Quiz in order to collect a medal at the Ossmannalm at the end. Animal fun is pre-programmed here!
  • Kids Hiking Challenge: Are you looking for a real challenge for you and your kids? Then you’ve come to the right place, because nowhere else in Saalbach Hinterglemm is it as easy to hike with children as on this six-path hike. Three control stations have to be found on each path in order to receive an award at the end. An exciting and fun way to explore our beautiful Glemmtal Alps and the extensive children’s program. But beware: two of the six hikes, the Zwölferkogel summit climb and the Schattberg summit climb, are comparatively challenging and require surefootedness.

After the hike is before the cuddle
Fun, action and adventure in the fresh air make you tired, so after the children’s hike it’s time to cuddle up and romp around the hotel. And what could be better for this than our super cuddly rooms and the children’s play corner in our lobby? That’s right! Goa nix! So don’t waste any more time and book a sporty vacation with kids now. We look forward to seeing you!
