Perfect Children’s Ski Equipment

Or: ‘Mama, when are we finally going skiing again?’

While the November sun is still serving up summery temperatures and my boys are reminiscing about their beach holiday, my thoughts are slowly turning to winter: Do we need new ski equipment for the children again this year? What do I need to organise? I can practically already hear them asking about the first day of skiing. I’ll try to cheat myself a little more time by answering ‘really soon’ or ‘just after Christmas’, while the alarm bells are ringing in my head.

My two little Rambos are now 3 and 5 years old and grow out of their old ski suits, ski boots and ski helmets almost every season. The poles and skis themselves sometimes last us a year or two, but every parent knows the race against time and centimetres. You’ve barely been out one winter with your new ski equipment when your boots start to pinch again and your poles only reach as far as your hips. A challenge for your wallet and your nerves.

My Tips for hiring Ski Equipment for your Children:

To make my life a little easier, I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years. Here are my top tips:

  • There are now children’s skis that grow with the little rascals. In other words, a subscription that allows you to hire new equipment every season, which you simply return at the end of the season.
  • Also, Intersport Breitfuss, our partner shop in Hinterglemm and our Heli’s Ski School always have good offers in store. So you are sure to find a pair of poles or boots in the right size.

Skiing in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm

Fully equipped, nothing stands between us and the slopes! In the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm, we are lucky to have a wide range of children’s activities, and I’m already looking forward to exploring the Fun Slopes with the boys this year — the older they get, the more fun the various snow tunnels, jumps, and fun high-five stands are. And if the kids‘ turbo batteries are still at 40% even after an exciting day of skiing (sorry, mums!), there’s a rocking kids’ party at the hotel to look forward to until the wild guys finally fall into bed knocked out.

Atypical Party Time: Après-ski Fun for Kids

Thanks to our Glücksschmiede cocktail course for children, the little ones can easily mix their drinks — alcohol-free, of course — with the help of our bartenders, while the grown-ups have earned their favourite adult drinks. And then it’s time for the kids to put on their headphones and head to the dance floor of the ‘Kiddo Silent Disco’. There, the kids can rock out to our DJs’ fun tunes with radio-controlled headphones. And the best part: Mum and dad don’t have to endure the ‘hit parade of horrors’, instead they can listen to their soundtrack at the bar with a cold drink in hand and enjoy their evening off in a completely relaxed manner.
