Snowtubing in Hinterglemm

Or: Not in the mood to ski? No problem!

If skiing is the most fun winter activity you can imagine, then snowtubing should come in at a comfortable second place. Especially when you want to do something special with the kids or have friends over who don’t feel quite as at home on skis as you do. That’s the perfect time to head to the snowtubing track here in Hinterglemm.

What a water slide with giant tyres is during summertime, snowtubing is in winter when the temperatures are crisp and fresh. The idea remains the same: you throw yourself onto one of the colourful, inflated giant tyres and hurtle down the 120-metre-long track at full speed until you have covered a good 17 metres in altitude. Depending on your mood and how you want to approach this outing, it can be a wholesome day for the whole family, a tube race for sporty adrenaline junkies or a fine tobogganing experience for more relaxed tubers — the options are endless.

Snowtubing in Style.

Personally, we prefer to make our way to the snowtubing track in the evening — without any stress, of course, as the track is open until 21:30 — when everything is floodlit and offers an extra special flair. Especially when we have friends over, this is a perfect opportunity to end the evening in a fun way: whether it’s with a full run, a tube chain in a row or together on one tyre. And best of all, with a valid ski pass from the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm, the whole experience is free.

Atypical Soundtrack: Good Tunes on the Tubes!

Snowtubing in the evening is particularly well suited to a live soundtrack. So last time we went, I decided to grab my Styrian harmonica, throw myself on a tyre and give a little live concert during the ride — fun times and the perfect end to an already fun evening.
